The Wrong Umbrella

It rained yesterday.

Zhang Wei was eating at a restaurant. There were many umbrellas at the restaurant entrance.

After Zhang Wei finished eating, he grabbed an umbrella and left.

When he got home, he took a look at the umbrella.

Oh, this isn’t his umbrella!

His umbrella is very old. This umbrella is new.

Zhang Wei thought: I took the wrong one. This is someone else’s umbrella.

The next day, Zhang Wei took the new umbrella and went back to the restaurant. He wanted to return the umbrella.

At the restaurant entrance, a person was standing.

In that person’s hand was a very old umbrella.

It was Zhang Wei’s umbrella!

The two people looked at the umbrellas, looked at each other, and both smiled.

“I’m sorry!”

“I’m sorry!”

I really love your short stories .. always been confused about how to learn Chinese but you make it so easy literally want to cry out of happiness thanks so much.

It’s a nice story, it shows a lot of gramatical structures that are new to me:
饭店门口,站着一个人。(place, action + subject): used to introduce a new subject.
那个人手里,拿着一把很旧的伞。: Same here, I had never seen this order before “in his hand, he was holding a very old umbrella”.

Maybe I’m a little deprived of texts, but this was really fun to read, and I got a lot of new vocabulary on the way.
