Here’s a terrifying 200-word piece of micro-fiction that Zuowen.com indicates is written by a 1st year student. I think they might have a little Edgar Allan Poe horror savant on their hands over there: this language is far and above most first-year essays. The Chinese name of the story is “死神降临” – 死神 being the Chinese word for the Grim Reaper.

On a train, in the long night of a tunnel, everything seemed tranquil, and then the quiet was broken…

“Agh! Agh! Agh!” One old millionaire suddenly and violently died. All the passengers ran around, terrified. And in that, an act of extraordinary madness. A youngster, only about 15, cloaked in a jacket and hat walked softly by. “Hee hee hee.” The young man’s face lifted, a face like a human skeleton cackling, “Hee hee hee.”

Suddenly, the young man disappeared, and all that was left in the train car was a pile of countless white bones. We slowly move towards our final destination…

What was at the end??? You know some people get NIGHTMARES out of SCARY STORIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never mind… It was an effort even though.
    :-D

  7. Well sort of confusing but kind of good. Why was the man that died a millionaire? Random? This was assigned for my chinese class, but not sure why….
