So this isn’t actually a Chinese study post, but I wanted to take a minute and pay homage to one of the best – and now defunct – Chinese language blogs online, Lost in Chinese / Found in Translation.
If you’ve never visited that site, gogogo! Though no one’s posting there anymore, there are 50 or so posts available to pour through, and it’s a killer collection of deeply insightful, yet unpretentious cultural blurbs, and is full of fascinating looks at advanced Chinese mythology and poetry.
It’s cool for beginners because all of the Chinese words are embedded in context with English sentences, so you don’t need to be an advanced reader to pick up some advanced vocabulary – very cool. But if you are an advanced reader, you can find translations of LiBai poems and all kinds of neat stuff. You don’t even really have to be studying Chinese to make the read interesting.
